November is Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month 🌾✨

Did you know November is Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month? For my family, this month is more than just awareness; it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come on our gluten-free journey.

My children and I were diagnosed with gluten allergies back in August 2013, and we’ve been living gluten-free ever since. At first, it felt overwhelming, reading every label, asking endless questions at restaurants, and trying to recreate all our favorite meals without gluten. But over time, it became second nature. We discovered new foods, learned how to cook differently, and realized that a gluten-free lifestyle can still be full of flavor and joy.

Living gluten-free isn’t a trend for us; it’s a necessity. It’s how we stay healthy, energized, and balanced. However, I also know how challenging it can be, especially for families just starting out. That’s why Gluten-Free Diet Awareness Month is so important – to spread education, understanding, and support for those who are navigating this lifestyle for the first time.

Here are a few ways you can get involved this month:
🍞 Try a new gluten-free recipe via my blog — you might be surprised how good gluten-free recipes can be!
🍕 Support restaurants that offer safe, gluten-free options.
🛒 Read ingredient labels carefully — gluten can hide in sauces, snacks, and even vitamins.
💬 Share your story — your experience might help someone else who’s struggling.

Being gluten-free isn’t about what we’ve had to give up, it’s about what we’ve gained: better health, awareness, and the appreciation for the foods that truly nourish us. 🌿

Review: CAVA – Newark, Delaware

Rating: 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Walking into CAVA instantly gave me a Chipotle vibe, but with a Mediterranean twist. The setup is similar, but the flavors are all their own. I decided to build my own Grain Bowl to keep things gluten-free and started with Saffron Basmati Rice as my base. From there, I added their Tzatziki and signature Crazy Feta® dips, chose the Grilled Steak for protein, and topped it off with Fiery Broccoli, Pickled Onions, and Cherry Tomatoes. A drizzle of Garlic Dressing tied everything together beautifully. The flavors were aromatic, fresh, and perfectly balanced.

Most of CAVA’s menu items are naturally gluten-free (with the exception of the pita bread and falafel), and they offer plenty of gluten-free sauces, dressings, and toppings to choose from. You can even check their website or ask a team member for their gluten-free list.

Overall, the food was absolutely delicious, and the experience was easy, fast, and flavorful. I’ll definitely be back to try one of their salads and probably the lamb next time.

Review: First Watch Restaurant

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Food & Staff)

I absolutely love eggs benedict, it’s my all-time favorite breakfast dish, and the BLT Benedict at First Watch in the Grove Shopping Center did not disappoint! Two perfectly poached cage-free eggs on gluten-free toast, topped with bacon, vine-ripened tomato, avocado, and lemon-dressed arugula, all finished with creamy hollandaise. It was rich, fresh, and so satisfying.

I really appreciated that they offered it on gluten-free bread without sacrificing flavor or quality. The side of lemon-dressed organic mixed greens made the whole meal feel light and balanced.

The wait staff was awesome and went above and beyond to make sure everything was prepared safely for my gluten allergy. I really appreciated the extra care, and it made the whole experience even better.

If you’re a fan of eggs benedict (or just looking for a great breakfast spot), I highly recommend checking out First Watch in Newark, Delaware.
