Making this paint recipe is a fun activity to do with your kids.

And my kids sure love playing with paint and getting messy while making all their masterpieces! And since we go through A LOT of paint I decided to try my hand at making homemade finger paint.

This is not like those washable paints you buy, so make sure your kiddos have aprons on otherwise their clothes might stain.

Homemade Finger Paint for kids

• 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup cornstarch **
• 4 cups water
• Food Coloring to make different colored paint

Warm the water and ingredients in a medium sauce pan on medium heat.

Stir until it thickens to the consistency of paint.

Poor into several containers.

Add food coloring into each container.

Place lid on containers and shake to mix coloring.

** If you add too much cornstarch you will get gloppy paint. Just thin with extra water for a smoother texture.
